I’m trying to find out where my GGGgrandfather George S King was born and who his parents/siblings were. He was born abt. 1819-1820, he states on different censuses that he was born in Virginia, and then also says Pennsylvania. He lived in Indiana because he married his wife Nancy E. Boyd in Jennings Indiana in 1840. They moved to Kansas to the Garnett area in 1857. He died there in either 1881 or 1888. There is mention of him in a book about early settlers to that part of Kansas and it was talking about his service in the civil war—It states that George and Nancy were both natives of Ohio, which is the first time I had seen that as a possibility. (Book was written in the early 1900’s i believe). So I can find him for sure in 1840 and beyond, just not before or with his parents. There are many George King’s during this time. I also saw where he says his name is George W S King. I have looked into the possibility that his last name was actually Stoneking and he may have dropped the Stone at an early age. I have a few dna matches and the surname is Stoneking not King. So that’s a possibility. I’m hoping there is someone out there who might be a descendant of a sibling of George’s that may hold the key.....
