Ciannachta Glinne Gaimin
The Kings of Uí Meic Uais were descendants of Colla Uais, one of the Three Collas who were prominent figures in early Irish history. Colla Uais had sons named Eachach and Ercc, from whom descended the Uí Meic Uais, among others. The Uí Meic Uais are cited as having several branches, including Uí Meic Uais Mide and Uí Meic Uais Breg, and are collectively known as the Uí Meic Uais, with groups of this name also noted in the midland regions. The Uí Meic Uais were part of the over-kingdom of Airgíalla, which was composed of nine sub-kingdoms, including Ui Thuirtri, Ui Meic Cairthinn, and Ui Meic Uais
