History: Kleinburg Cemetery is located where Kleinburg Evangelical Lutheran Church was originally built circa 1855. The land had been purchased by Jacob Burkholder and Augustus Groskurth on behalf of the congregation from Henry S. and Ardelia Howland.

On September 23, 1869, the church and grounds were sold to Kleinburg Wesleyan Methodist Church, but it was agreed that Lutherans would continue to have free access to the burial ground.

In 1964, Town of Vaughan built a memorial cairn in the shape of a cross (when viewed from above) and mounted the gravestones from the cemetery on it.

A plaque was placed at the front of the cemetery that states that it is the site of the Methodist Church where Edwin Arthur Pearson and Annie Sarah Bowles "came as bride and groom in 1892". They later became the parents of Lester B. Pearson, Prime Minister of Canada from 1963-1968. However, there are several sources that indicate that their marriage took place at the Methodist Church in Orangeville.

Visiting Today: The cemetery today is bordered on the north by Nashville Road, on the east and west by residential properties, and on the south by forest. It is accessed from the sidewalk on the hillside of Nashville Road between Highway 27 and Islington Avenue. There is no parking at the cemetery, however, free street parking is available to the east, a bit further up the hill.

Kleinburg Cemetery contains just under 70 interments according to the gravestones mounted in the cairn. The cairn is in good condition and no other gravestones are visible--the rest of the cemetery is a grassy mound on the hillside.
