The goal of this project is to ...
Right now this project just has one member, me. I am D. Robert Smith aka Acker.
Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.
- Identifying the original members of the Templar Order (Ordre Souverain et Militaire du Temple de Jérusalem), up and until 1310 C.E., that are existing profiles on WikiTree.
- Identify persons of note, both secular and Clergy, who supported the Order, or may have also been Templars, throughout Europe or the Holy Lands, during and shortly after the Crusades.
- Identify profiles that are either benefactors or members of the Templar Order, from the time Napolean Bonaparte (1805), Emperor of France, until the 1950's.
- We will not be including the Hospitallers or other multiple religious/Christian Orders of the time, or Masonic history, ideologies, or leaders, unless it coincides with actual Templar history in this project at this time.
- I will also provide a list of books that are the most reliable on the history of the early Templars.
Much has been written about the Templar Order, and quite a bit that is controversial, myth, mysticism, or plain fiction.
- One of the goals of this project is to provide as factual as possible information concerning the Knights of the Temple of Jerusalem!
I am a descendant of several of the original Templars as well, and will add a list soon, and will be refining the vision of this Project as I can. If anyone has comments or suggestions, please message me. Thank you, D. Robert Smith
