Location: Newberry Township, York, Pennsylvania, United States
Surnames/tags: Kurtz Brinton Hays
I have been looking for information on my 2nd great grandfather Issac L. Kurtz (1804-1884) for almost 30 years. He was almost certainly born in southeast PA between Chester and Lancaster counties. He was a tailor by trade. He married Elizabeth Brinton (1816-1867) sometime before 1837. They lived in Newberry township, York county, PA from around 1830 until Elizabeth died. They had seven children born between 1837 and 1856. Five of whom suvived into adulthood.
Four males and one female survived, They include: Abraham B. Kurtz (1837-1921) who served in the Civil War and from whom I am descended; Lewis B. Kurtz (1839-1906) who served in the Civil War and moved to St.Louis, MO shortly after the war; Annie B. Kurtz Troup (1841-1891) who lived in Boiling Springs, PA; Jessie B. Kurtz (b. 1847); Isaac B. Kurtz (1851-1879) who moved to Baltimore, MD with Isaac L. after Elizabeth died; and William Henry Kurtz (1856-1939) who moved to the Springfield, OH area and had 10 children born between 1888 and 1910. I know thru genetic testing that I am related to at least two of descendents.
After his wife Elizabeth died (1867) Issac L. and his next to youngest son Isaac B. moved to Baltimore, MD presumably to pursue his trade. He died in Baltimore and his body was brought by his daughter (Annie) to Boiling Springs, PA where he is buried in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Elizabeth is buried in Paddletown Cemetery, Newberry Township, York County, PA.
