The goal of this project is to link as many LONGSTAFF family trees and Pedigrees as is possible. Right now this project just has one member, me. I am Carole Johnson. Please do join me as it is very lonely leading a one person project.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help. Please look out out for associated surnames such as BLUNDELL, DIXON and SAYER in the search to dig up those old roots.

I have already linked many of GEORGE BLUNDELL LONGSTAFF'S Pedigrees and will begin by transferring as many as possible to our Global Tree.

Will you join me? Please post a comment here on this page, in G2G using the project tag, or send me a private message. Thanks!

The goal of this project is to link as many orphaned Longstaff or Langstaff branches and pedigrees as possible. I have already done a great deal of research and am happy to help find any missing links Right now this project just has one member, me. I am Carole Johnson.

Also you might like to take a look at my website at :-

At the above website you will find my transcriptions of George Blundell Longstaff's impressively informative book, "The Langstaffs of Teesdale and Weardale. It contains his Pedigrees Wills and Parish Registers, so a great place to find some of those missing sources.

I have linked 100s of Longstaff trees and branches and have a file containing in the region of 14500 Longstaff individuals with their extended families where I may possibly find relatives of your branch of the Longstaff family.

Good Luck with your searches,

Carole

Hi Carole, thank you for starting this project!

I'm the 2x great grandson of Elizabeth Longstaff (b. 1877 - Jarrow, Durham) and her husband Robert Burns. I found an incredible box of old photographs in my late grandmother's collection, some of which over a century old. I'm eager to piece together more of the stories and research the Longstaff family lines!

Hello James,

Thank you, pleased to be of help!

You are very lucky to have so many photographs, sadly they are in very short supply for my whole family, previous to this generation,

I have part of your family on file. Elizabeth is the daughter of William Longstaff and Mary Ann. They had 9 children, William is the son of Joseph Longstaff and Margaret Todd, both Joseph and Margaret were born about 1825, Joseph was born in Middleton in Teesdale, His mother was Ann but I have nothing further at present

William married a Catherine H FAGAN who was born in 1863, in Ireland, She was a widow when she married William Longstaff, so at present maiden name unknown,' Catherine has a son Robert Fagan aged 1 in 1891, She is William's housekeeper at that time so it is possible that William was the father,

In 1901 Catherine has married William and they have two more children, Catherine, aged 2 and Rosannah, aged 1.

Kind regards,

Carole

Carol, I have just added a few Longstaffs who are new to Wikitree. One of interest is Joseph William Longstaff (Longstaff-541), who was born in Neasham, Durham. He had a granddaughter Ethel, and I searched Wikitree to see if she might be there (Ethel Longstaff being a somewhat unusual name), and I found your Ethel Longstaff. Not the same person, but also born in Neasham. It would be nice if we could find a connection.

I would like to join you on the Longstaff Name Study. I work from copies of George Blundel Longstaff's pedigrees where they affect "my" Langstaffs. I am particularly intested in coordinating correct place names for parishes, farms, settlements etc from Ordnance Survey sheets.
