Laban Stafford, his Ancestors and Descendants - A Genealogy
- authored by Stafford, Ernest Nean
- published in Escondido, CA, 1962
- 310 pages; includes both Stafford index and allied families index
- includes 11 seemingly unrelated Stafford families (pages 192 and beyond)
- includes numerous families including: Bennett, Edmisson, Gott, Hardison, King, Lipe, Massey, Nichols, Norton, Richards, Routh, Taylor, Wingo
- The structure of the book is unusual. Beginning at page 20, the even pages are a narrative, while the odd pages are the Laban's proper genealogy. They at times get quote out-of-sync. While Chapter 3 explores Laban, his family, and Caswell county NC records where he lived, the genealogy pages interwoven have descended four or five generations into Laban's descendants. This all breaks down at page 249 when Laban's genealogy is completed. The book continues, on both odd and even pages, with the ongoing unrelated Stafford families.
- Details of Laban and his immediate family appear well sourced with copies of his will, his children's wills, and various county records. However, the ancestors of Laban don't appear to have any sources. So the connection between Laban and the presumed progenitor William Stafford of Jamestown, VA is not proven.
