Odiáxere

Odiáxere is a small rural parish located near the coast. Throughout history it was sparsly populated, with almost all of those living here being farmers. Its patron saint is Nossa Senhora da Conceição.

Etymologically Odiáxere is Arabic in origin, with 'odi-' coming from the word wadi (river), and -áxere, with uncertain origin. Thought to be the name of the aforementioned river, but there are no records of an 'Áxere river' ever existing.
