Location: Ellis Township, Hardin, Iowa, United States
Surname/tag: Lake
This Lake Family Reunion was held at the Cottage School in Ellis township of Hardin County in Iowa in 1973, or possibly in 1974.
Lake Family Background
Florentine Lake and his wife, Delilah Scott, were married in Lynn county, Iowa and had their first three children there. The family moved to Ellis township in Hardin County in 1860, where they had seven more children. Three of the children moved on to Nebraska, Canada and Minnesota, but the other seven remained in or near Hardin County.
I was not present and probably wouldn't have been able to remember everyone who attended, anyway, as I would have been 16. From the photos uploaded to this free space page, I can identify descendants who represented six of the ten children of Florentine and Delilah. Actually only eight were married and had offspring. From the large total group photo it is apparent the many other families were present and had their pictures taken, but are not part of this initial upload, but are welcome to contribute.
The two missing groups of descendants were from the oldest daughter, Mary Francis Lake and William Winterfield who had remained in Hardin County, and the other group was possibly from Cornelius Brown Lake and Amanda Frederick, who had one son, but I have not been able to determine if they had any grandchildren.
Of the photos in the initial upload, one was submitted by a cousin from Alberta, Canada, (Group of Lake Descendants) and another one was from a cousin in Arizona (First Cousins). The rest were contributed by my grandparents, Gene and Irene Lake, son of Frank (wearing sunglasses) who was probably the oldest person in attendance. Please upload photos of this reunion or contact me for assistance.
