Lakewood Cemetery was established as a non profit organization in 1871 and consists of 250 acres of park-like landscaping. It is located south of downtown Minneapolis near Lake Calhoun with the entrance at 36th Street and Hennepin Avenue.

Entering the cemetery you will find many winding roads leading you to gravesite sections which may or may not be marked with a placard. It is best to visit their website and obtain a map of the cemetery and the section you are interested in. Within each section map, they have identified several graves to help you locate a starting point.

If you have trouble finding the grave it may be unmarked as many are or covered with grass and/or dirt.
