Last Will and Testament of Henry Sauer[1]
Know by all men these presents, that I, Henry Sauer, being of sound mind and memory do hereby make and publish this as my last will and testament, hereby revoking all prior wills by me made.
FIrst. I desire that my just debts and last sickness and funeral expenses be first paid.
Second. I give, devise and bequeath to my grand children, Charles H Sauer, Earl Sauer, Mary Sauer, children of Louis Sauer the east half of the north half of the south west quarter of Section eight, Township eighty seven North Range seven West 5th P.M. Buchanan County Iowa.
Third. I will, devise and bequeath all the rest and residue of my property both real and personal to my daughter Amelia Love, Caroline Nehls, Sarah Blankenburg, LIzzie Dukek and Lute Sauer to be divided between them in equal shares except that Amelia Love and Lizzie Dukek shall receive each a sum three hundred less that the other three daughters.
Fourth. The reason why I have not devised anything to either of my sons is that I have heretofore provided for each and all of them by property I have given them.
Fifth. I hereby appoint Robert Nehls and Charles Sauer executors of this my last will and testament.

On this 7th day of August 1899, we W. A. Tidball, & Frank Roads have signed the will of Henry Sauer as witnesses he having signed the same in our presence and we have signed the same in his presence and the presence of each other.

State of Iowa, Buchanan County, SS:I,M.O. Fouts, clerk of the District Court of the State of Iowa in and for said County do certify that the foregoing will of Henry Sauer deceased was on the 11th day of March 1901 duly proved and admitted to probate and record in said District Court in accordance with law.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand an affixed the seal of said Court at my office at Independence in said County on this 11th day of March 1901.

Surety bonds for estate of Henry Sauer:
On 26 Nov 1900 Robert A Nehls, Mary A Love, Carrie Nehls, Sarah Blankenburg, Lizzie Dukek and Lutie Sauer signed a surety bond for the estate of Henry Sauer, for which Robert Nehls was administrator.[2]
On 12 Mar 1901 Robert Nehls, Lizzie Dukek, Lutie Sauer, Sarah Blankenburg, Mary Love, Carrie Nehls, O M Shellito, A G Gillette, A J Bourhart, A T McDonald signed a surety bond for $50,000 for the estate of Henry Sauer, for which Robert Nehls was administrator.[3]
Note: Of the likely 11 children of Henry Sauer, only 8 were mentioned in his will.
