She is the daughter of Sir john Peyton 1st Baronet Peyton of Isleham and the widow of Sir John Brewse of Little Wenham.

The will of Dame Susanna (Peyton) Brewes was written and signed 9 August 1652 and proved 5 Feb 1660 or 1661. It is likely she died closer to the date the will was proved.

In 1652 the will refers to her five children (William, John, Mary, Alice and Penelope) and three grandchildren Frances (daughter of her eldest son William) and Peyton Ventris and Mary Ventris (children of her daughter Mary (Brewes) Ventris).

The will also establishes relationships to Ventris, Mumford and Bragg families.
