Introduction
General John McPherson (1756 - 1806) was the owner of several plantations in South Carolina. Low Country Africana has transcribed the estate inventory of John McPherson, made (following his death at sea) in December of 1806, which lists enslaved ancestors at Laureum, Pine Comfort, Cotton Hall and Heneka Hill Plantations in Prince William Parish, Beaufort District, and Colleton District, SC. Enslaved ancestors listed in Beaufort District were listed by families and in groups that may have been extended families. [1]
