The History of the Legards
The main Legard family was established in Yorkshire, England from medieval times. Initially its base seems to have been in the East Riding, with associations with places near Kingston-upon-Hull and Beverley. Later the chief branch, from which a series of Legard baronets came, was based at Ganton in North Yorkshire and intermarried with many leading families there.
