The goal of this project is to ...

The funeral sermons belong to the literature type of personal writings, i.e. the writings that were written and often printed for birthdays, baptisms, engagements, weddings, inaugurations, anniversaries and, as in this case, the death of a person.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done.

• Go through every volume of the collection and make a inventory list of the included sermons. This has been done in former times, but needs to be checked, since some mistakes were made and alredy found.
• A profile of every person with a funeral sermon in this collection will be created in Wikitree, if there isn't already one that can be identified. The profiles then will be linked to the names in the list so that easy access ist possible from the list to the profile. Since every Sermon in contemporary and includes a short obituary, dates of birth and death can be extracted and the Sermon be given as source.
• The Catalog of early German printings of the 16th (VD16) and 17th (VD17) century is to be checked for these Sermons, to see if they are already included or not. It has been found that in several cases the printings are NOT jet included. Therefore it might be possible that the copy found in the Andreas-Möller-Library is the only surviving one. It is all the more valuable to make this source generally accessible here in wikitree.

List of names and years of death in the AMB collection

(pilot project for the first two volumes of the collection, to see if it is workable)

This list contains at first the number of the sermon in the AMB collection. The roman numerals represent the volume, the arabic ones represent the Sermon. The numbers are used according to the contemporary numbering. For example: AMB II 45 refferes to the collection of the Andreas-Möller-Bibliothek, volume 2, Sermon no. 45.

After the number follows the surname and name of the deceased, as well es the maiden name in case of a female. Also the year and place of death can be found. The names will be linked with the profile in Wikitree.

Next column indicates if the profile of the person in wikitree is already connected to the main tree. It is one of the goals of this project to find a connection for every person in the end.

The last columns represent the autor and the number of the printed sermon in the Catalog of early German printings. If they are already included there, the numbers will be linked to the respectiv entry in the online catalog which gives a detailed overview of the item and shows other locations and copys of these rare printings.
