Linköpings stift - Linköping Diocese

Linköping diocese is a part of the Swedish church and covers the following counties; Östergötland, the northeastern parts of Jönköping, and the northern parts of Kalmar.

History

The diocese was founded in the beginning of the 12th century and then it also included Småland (Växjö soon became its own diocese), Öland and Gotland (the two latter were cut off in 1570). It got its current area in 1602 when Kalmar stift was founded.
