Welcome! This page is a workspace for collaborators on the Awbreys of Virginia to figure out the best option for a trail to a Magna Carta Ancestor (see below). Because the Virginia Awbrey immigrants (Henry, John, and Thomas) are not documented by Douglas Richardson, they are considered "Questionable Gateway Ancestors" by the Magna Carta project, which has also flagged several connections as uncertain for lack of primary sources. Although significant circumstantial evidence has been collected and posted to the WikiTree profiles for them and their ancestors, primary sources are sought so that the project will allow them to drop the "Questionable" and be accepted as "Gateway Ancestors".
First step: What trail to work on?
Click the links below to see what WikiTree's Relationship Finder returns as trails for the Virginia Awbreys (the links use John's profile to find the relationships, but the trail would be the same for his brother Henry).

Suggested Trail

I think the best trail to work on would be to Thomas Berkeley (whose profile has already been reviewed/badged by the Magna Carta project).

Thomas is documented by Douglas Richardson's Royal Ancestry and his trail in WikiTree to Magna Carta Surety Baron Saher de Quincy has been reviewed/approved by the Magna Carta project.
From Richardson's Royal Ancestry, Vol II, p 594: Thomas Berkeley, Esq., married Elizabeth Neville before 1 July 1491 and had by her one son, John, and four daughters: Lora, Anne, Elizabeth (wife of George Herbert, Knt.), and Alice. See his profile for additional sources.

Elizabeth Neville, mother of Elizabeth Berkeley.

Elizabeth is also documented by Richardson and has had numerous trails reviewed/approved by the Magna Carta project, based on the categories her profile is included in: Bigod-2 Descendants, Bigod-1 Descendants, Clare-651 Descendants, Clare-673 Descendants, Clavering-13 Descendants, Lacy-284 Descendants and, like her husband, Quincy-226 Descendants.
