Who are Hugh Lloyd's parents (Lloyd-5615) and where was he born? Did he have any siblings?
Hugh Lloyd (1737-1789) In 1760 he passed the Royal Navy Lieutenant's Exam. Family lore says he served on the HMS Prince at the Battle of Quebec and lost a leg. According to ship records, he commanded the HMS Vulture from Nov 1778 to April 1780. If that is correct, he helped Benedict Arnold escape from George Washington's troops.
On voter rolls from shortly before his death, he is listed as Hugh Lloyd Esq, which was a courtesy title for a captain without a ship to command.

I've exhausted Ancestry, FamilySearch and Find My Past. The National Archives doesn’t have Royal Navy records from that time digitized and online. On a handwritten family tree from the early 1900s it is noted that "many attempts have been made at discovering Hugh Lloyd's parentage without success."
