Loudon County History
Loudon County was established on May 27, 1870. Its territory was taken from parts of Blount, Monroe, and Roane counties. It's original name was Christiana County, but it was changed to Loudon County just a few days later, for nearby Fort Loudon.

Geography
Loudon County is part of East Tennessee, one of Tennessee's Three Grand Divisions. These divisions are not only geographic, but also cultural and defined in state law. Loudon County is also part of the South Central Region of Appalachia.
