Louisiana Managed Profiles Team
The purpose of the Louisiana Managed Profiles Team is to ensure that our project-managed profiles are presentable, factual, well documented, and as complete as we can make them.
Team Members
The Louisiana Managed Profiles Team generally consists of project leadership plus a few experienced members who are well rounded in WikiTree styles and standards, and have demonstrated profile improvement skills. Team members are willing to collaborate with other teams, as well as individual profile managers, to help put forward our best on these profiles.
Current Team members are:
- Joyce Rivette, Leader
- Jackie Girouard, Leader
- Steff Mandarino, Leader
Team Goals
The goals for this team include:
- Each PPP profile meets current WikiTree requirements for project protection.
- Each project managed profile actually needs project management. The goal is to only manage profiles that are historically significant, notable, controversial, frequently duplicated, OR highly-viewed (5-star).
- Each project managed profile includes relevant categories and a well-written biography.
- We Collaborate with others in managing edits and merges of project managed profiles.
Team Tasks
Each managed profile should be reviewed for the following elements, to make sure they have:
- A need for project management. Most will fit at least one or more (but not all) of the requirements for PPP, or will be a 5-star profile or historically significant. (Note: If a profile is to be removed from management, make sure appropriate location, maintenance, and other categories are added before removing project account and template.)
- If PPP, ensure it fits current WikiTree guidelines for project protection. (PPPs must fit into the project, be 200 years old or notable, have the lowest-numbered ID for the correct LNAB, AND be controversial or frequently duplicated.)
- Valid sources for every assertion.
- No duplicate profiles - all merges completed and unmerged matches resolved where possible.
- Census data for each known census in the profiled person's lifetime, where found.
- Recognition of relevant military service, including applicable military stickers.
- Immigrant categories or stickers as applicable.
- Other appropriate categories, including location, cemetery, war, maintenance, etc.
- Simple list of children if applicable, numbered and ordered by birth and preferably linking to their profiles. All sources for children should be moved to their own profiles. If the list includes children with no profile, be sure a source is cited on their entry and has the category.
- No unresolved suggestions. If a suggestion is left unresolved, include a comment with the reason on the suggestion's Data Doctor status page.
- No red flags upon saving - if left unresolved, explain in a Research Notes section and add a "needs research" category.
- No mass quotes from other sites such as Wikipedia, Findagrave, Acadiansingray, other family trees, etc. See WikiTree's guidelines about copying text, and copying from Wikipedia.
- A Research Notes section when needed, discussing important issues about the profile.
- Narrative biography conforming to WikiTree styles and standards.
- All sources converted to in-line citations per WikiTree recommendations; remove SPAN formatting.
- Remove all non-approved HTML tags and formatting.
Acadians that migrated to Louisiana should also include the following:
- Wall of Names category if they appear on the Wall of Names in St. Martinville.
- Wall of Names notation at the top of the profile, with citation. It should be below the ==Biography== header, indented, cited, and followed by a line using 4 dashes (----)
- Immigrant category,
- Great Upheaval category,
- Acadian Coast Category, if applicable.
- Management by both the Acadians and Louisiana Family projects. (If it isn't already, notify project leadership.) Note: All Acadian narrative, sources, and categories should be handled by the Acadians Project. The focus of the Louisiana Project is on the Louisiana end, with some potential for collaboration on the rest. Also, the Immigrant sticker is not needed since the profile will already have both the Acadians and the Louisiana project boxes.
