Elijah Andersons in the area

There was an Elijah Anderson born in 1758 who started out in Culpeper and finished in Rappahannock, Virginia in 1837. There is a male descendant who is in yDNA haplogroup R-M269 rather than the I-BY53765 haplogroup for Elijah of Loudoun, so we can exclude a common genetic patrilineal relationship although the descendants of these two groups did intermarry.

Other potential fathers of Luke

Richard Anderson was noted as a potential father of Luke Anderson but this is no longer thought to be the case.

There are three censuses between his birth and the 1840 census mentioned above in which Luke might appear: 1810, 1820, 1830. No Luke Anderson is found in any of these and as only the names of the head of household are found in pre-1850 censuses , it is not surprising, especially for the first two when he was under age.

It should be noted that there is no 1840 census for Richard in Stafford. Not surprising as he would have been 60-70 years old and the life expectancy of the period was 37. We do see (in bold) that for each census, there was at least on male possibly born in 1805 (1801-1810, 1801-1806, 1801-1809 respectively).

One might also note that of the five males born between 1802 and 1810, only one is living in Richard's household in 1830. If they stayed in Stafford, one would expect to see more Anderson households that year. The indices for the years 1810, 1820, and 1830 show only one other household in 1810 (Wilis E), no other in 1820, but four others in 1830 (Daniel, Thomas, Will and Will). Of those four from 1830, the one for Thomas were slaves and one of the Will Anderson households had no males of the targeted age leaving two new households. The Daniel household had four males in the targeted range and the other Will household had two. No strong conclusions can be drawn here although it does allow that Luke had brothers named Daniel and Will among others.

The Richard in these censuses was reported to have been born between 1766-1784 in 1810, before 1775 in the 1820 census, and between 1771-1780 in the 1830 census. If all these were accurate, it would mean that he was born between 1771-1774.
