My Boinski, Szewc, Andrzejewski, Rugowski and Zarek ancestors began their lives in America here. They immigrated from the Posen region of Poland. Ignatius Andrzejewski and Jozefa Boinska married in the town of Sadki/Sadke Poland, had a daughter, Leukadia then sailed for America.

They joined Jozefa's sister, Johanna Boinska and husband, Wojciech (Albert) Szewc who had already come to Manitowoc.

While the Andrzejewski family left Manitowoc in 1880, the Szewcs, Rugowski and Zarek family stayed in the area. Several Andrzejewski children are buried in local cemeteries.
