Margaret Kemmerling Will and Codicil
Last Will and Testament of Margaret Kemmerling, Deceased.
In the name of God Amen. I, Margaret Kemmerling of Frankstown Township in the County of Huntingdon and State of Pennsylvania, considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time it may happen, and being desirous to settle my worldly business, while I have health and strength so to do.-- And being of perfect health, and of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding, Do make this my last will and testament in manner following, viz,
And first and principally, I commend my soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my executors hereinafter mentioned, the expense of which and any debts I may owe, to be paid by my executors, out of my personal estate -- and the remainder of my estate real and personal I bequeath to my children as follows, viz: To my son-in-law Henry Clapper intermarried with my daughter Catharine the tract of land he now resides on, in Frankstown Township aforesaid to hold the said Henry Clapper and Catherine his wife their heirs, and assigns forever He keeping my house in good repair and finding me in firewood during my life. And my personal property I bequeath to the rest of my children, namely, Danl Slippy of the State of Ohio, Abram Slippy, Peter Slippy, Isaac Slippy, and Elizabeth Clossen, formerly Elizabeth Slippy and now widow of Alxr Clossen decd, the sum of Five hundred dollars each to be paid as soon as it may be practicable for my said Executors to do so after my decease, the sumes for which I hold the releases of Daniel Slippy, Peter Slippy, Abram Slippy and Elizabeth Clossen, to be deducted out of their respective Five hundred dollars bequeathed to them, but should there be any overplus of my estate after paying the above mentioned bequests, such over plus to be equally divided among my children Danl Slippy, Peter Slippy, Abram Slippy, Isaac Slippy, Elizabeth Clossen, and Catherine Clapper, and should there be any deficiency in making up the said bequests, each heir to lose an equal proportion, And should I become chargeable in my old days to any one of my children in particular such child to be fully paid for their trouble, out of my estate. I order and direct that my personal property be sold by my executors, as soon after my decease as may be practicable, but should my children, or a majority of them, agree do divide my personal property among them, my will is that no sale be made thereof.
And lastly, I constitute and appoint my son Isaac Slippy and my son-in-law Henry Clapper Executors of this my last will and testament.

I, Margaret Kemmerling the the within named Testator do hereby make and publish this codicil to be added to my last will and testament in manner following to wit, whereby I do revoke the devise in my said will contained to my daughter Elizabeth Clossen of all that legacy and do give and devise the same to my daughter Elizabeth, her legal heirs and assigns forever To be equally divided between my daughter Elizabeth and her heirs agreeably to her And do hereby ratify and confirm my said will in all other respects
In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourth day of June One thousand eight hundred and forty-seven.
