"Looking at the family of Jean Savoie and Anne Landry...I am more inclined now to think that she would indeed have been born as early as about 1736, partly because her last known child was born in 1780. That would make her the eldest of her parents' dozen or so children. That would also make her old enough to have become Petit Jos's second wife within a fairly short time after Anastasie LeBlanc had died in 1756 or 1757."

- "Marguerite SAVOIE, daughter of Charles SAVOIE & Françoise MARTIN did not have the "right" mitochondrial DNA to be the wife of Petit Jos BROUSSARD.
- "We now know this thanks to a lady named Elizabeth Eudy who lives in Moss Point, Mississippi." Her mother was a Comeaux from Lake Charles, and descends in her direct maternal line from Marguerite Savoie and Petit Jos Broussard, through their daughter Louise (Ludivine), who was born about 1767.
- "Mrs. Eudy had her mtDNA tested by Family Tree DNA and joined the Mothers of Acadia Project. Her test results came back showing the very distinctive genetic signature of Radegonde Lambert. Françoise Martin was meanwhile a great-great-granddaughter in her maternal line of Françoise Corbineau and Guillaume Trahan. Françoise's mtDNA was thus entirely different from what Mrs. Eudy's ancestor Marguerite Savoie carried, and so her daughter Marguerite cannot have been the same Marguerite Savoie who married Petit Jos Broussard.
- "I went through the Savoie families of the appropriate time period, and it turns out that there is only one who carried the 'right' mtDNA. This is the family of Jean dit Djanne Savoie and Anne Landry. Anne was a daughter of Charles Landry and Catherine-Josephe Broussard, whose mother Catherine Richard was a daughter of Madeleine Blanchard, whose mother was Radegonde Lambert. And Mrs. Eudy's test results prove that her maternal line must connect to them.
- "Without the mtDNA test, I do not see how we would ever have guessed that Marguerite Savoie was herself descended from the Broussards, as her connection with them makes her a first cousin once removed to her husband. Such close marriages did take place, especially amonng the small groups of Acadians after their initial scattering in the aftermath of 1755. But intermarriage as close as that was generally discouraged, so it normally requires some additional evidence to show that a couple were in fact so closely related. There was no such additional evidence before Mrs. Eudy's test.

- "Jean Savoie and Anne Landry appear to have gone to live at Chipoudy shortly after their marriage at Port-Royal in 1735. Petit Jos Broussard is shown to have been living at Chipoudy as early as the winter of 1754-1755. His first wife, Anastasie LeBlanc, was then still living. DuCalvert indicates in his census six years later in 1761 that Petit Jos was living on the Miramichi, and so was the family of Jean Savoie and Anne Landry. So, there was plenty of opportunity for Petit Jos to have become acquainted with their daughter Marguerite between these enumerations.
- "The only problem remaining concerning this business is the question of when Petit Jos married Marguerite. Their first known child was born in 1765, but Petit Jos had been a widower as early as 1757, according to the baptismal record of his daughter Anastasie. Moreover, DuCalvert's 1761 census shows that Petit Jos had a second wife by then. That might well have been Marguerite, but it is just possible that it was a third wife about whom we have no other information, unless some record or other concerning Petit Jos and Marguerite specified that she was his "épouse en secondes noces." Such a reference would foreclose the possibility of a third wife."
