This Indenture Made the Eight and twentieth day of Februarye in the yeare of o[ur] Lord god One Thousand Six Hundred Fifty & Nine Betweene Judeth Carter Widdowe Late Wife of Beniamen Carter late of Chesham in the County of Buck[ingham] gent Deceased And one of the Daughters and Coheires of Richard Mayor als[o] Meres late of London Vintner Deceased of the one part And Richard Chase of Chesham aforesaid Clerke William Childe the younger of Chesham aforesaid gent & Edward Umfrevile of Chesham aforesaid gent of the other part

Wittnesseth That shee the said Judeth Carter for and in Considerac[i]on of a Marriage by the Divine Providence intended to be shortly had and Solempnized by & Betweene her the said Judeth Carter And the said Edward Umfrevile And for the Settleinge and establishinge of her Fifte part & of all her Share purparty and proporc[i]on of and in the Messuages Lands Tenem[en]ts and hereditam[en]ts hereafter in these p[re]sentes menc[i]oned To the uses intents and purposes hereafter in theis p[rese]ntes menc[i]oned expressed Limitted and Declared And for Divers & sundry other good causes and Considerac[i]ons her the said Judeth Carter thereunto especially moveinge

Doth by this p[resen]tes for her and her heires Covenant and grannt to & with the said Richard Chase and William Child & theire heires That shee the said Judeth Carter and her heires shall and will imediately from henceforth Stand & be seised of All her Fifte part and of All her Share purparty and proporc[i]on of and in All & singuler the Messuages Cottages howses edifices buildings Shoppes Cellers Co[ur]ts yards gardens backesides Closes lands Tenem[en]ts and hereditam[en]ts whatsoever whereof the said Richard Mayor als[o] Meres was Seised in Fee Simple att the time of his Death either in possession or Reverc[i]on Scituate Lyeinge or beinge in Shoolane in the parish of St Andrewes Holborne within the Citty of London aforesaid and in the parish of Islington in the County of Midd[lesex] or either of them or elsewhere within the Realme of England And also of All other the Messuages Lands Tenem[en]ts and hereditam[en]ts And of All parts porc[i]ons and purparties of all other Messuages Landes tenem[en]ts and hereditam[en]ts whatsoever with theire app[ur]te[na]nnc[e]s whereof or wherein She the said Judeth Carter is nowe Seised in Fee Solely or Copartenery with any other person or persons and whereof or wherein shee hath any estate in Fee or of Inheritance either in possession or Reverc[i]on as one of the Daughters and Coheires of the said Richard Mayor als[o] Meres or otherwise howsoever scituate Lyeinge or beinge within the Citty of London and in Islington aforesaid or either of them or elsewhere within the Realme of England (Exceptinge All Messuages lands Tenem[en]ts and hereditam[en]ts Scituate Lyeinge and beinge in the county of Lincolne and heretofore Solde and Conveyed unto John Maynard Serieant att Lawe and his heires) To the Uses intents and purposes hereafter in theis p[rese]nts menc[i]oned expressed Limitted and Declared and to none other use untent or purpose whatsoever (That is to say) To the onely proper Use and behoofe of the said Judeth Carter and of her heires and assignes untill the said Marriage by and betweene ^her the said Judeth and the said Edward Umfrevile shalbe had and Solempnized And from and after the Solempnization of the said Marriage Then To the Use and behoofe of the said Judeth & her assignes for and Dureinge the Terme of her naturall Life And from and after her Decease Then To the Use and behoofe of the said Edward Umfrevile and of the heires of the Body of the said Edward which he shall begett on the body of the said Judeth And for default of such issue Then To the Use and behoofe of the Right heires of the said Edward Umfrevile for ever And to none other Use intent or purpose whatsoever

And the said Judeth Carter for herselfe her heires executors and Adm[ini]strators and for every of them Doth Covenannt promise and grannt to and with the said Edward Umfrevile his heires and assignes and to and with every of them by theis p[rese]nts That shee the said Judeth Carter and her heires And all and every other person and persons theire heires and assignes and Lawefully Claimeinge or to Claime from by or Under her the said Judeth shall and will from time to time and at all times hereafter att the Reasonable request Costs and Charges in the Lawe of the said Edward Umfrevile his heires and assignes or any of them Doe make Seale acknowledge Suffer and execute Or cause to be Done made Sealed acknowledged Suffered and executed All and every such Further and other Lawefull and Reasonable Act and Acts thinge and thinges Devise and Devises and Assurannce and Assurannces in the Lawe whatsoever For the Further and better Conveyinge and Assuringe of all and singuler the p[re]misses aforesaid with their app[ur]te[na]nnc[e]s (except before excepted) unto the said Richard Chase and William Child their heires and assignes To the Uses intents and purpose above in theis presents menc[i]oned expressed ^limitted & Declared As by the said Edward Umfrevile his heires and assignes or any of them Or by his theire or any of theire Counsell Learned in the Lawes shalbe reasonably Devised or advised and required

In wittness whereof the parties First abovenamed unto theis p[re]sent Indentures Interchangeably have putt their hands and Seales the Day and yeare First abovewritten.
