Biography

Mary, daughter of Patrick Horrigan and Margaret Lynch, was baptized on 8 February 1863 in Shandrum, County Cork, Ireland. No birth date was given on this record.^[1] The birth date of 20 March 1864 on her tombstone is incorrect.

In 1891, Mary and her husband, Timothy Murphy, were living in Ste. Anne Ward in Montreal with their two children, Hannah [Nora] and Patrick. Living next door was her mother, Margaret Harrigan, and several of Mary's siblings.^[2]

By 1900, Mary and her family moved to Lysander, Onondaga, New York. Mary's father, Patrick Harrigan, lived with them for awhile.^[3][4][5]

Marriage and Children

Married: On 16 July 1888, Mary married Timothy Murphy, son of John Murphy and Eleanor Toohill, at St. Anne De Montreal Church in Montreal.^[6]

Children: According to both the 1900 and 1910 censuses, Mary claimed she had 6 children and all 6 were living at that time.^[3][5]

1. Eleanora, born about May 1889 in Montreal.
2. Patrick J., born 6 September 1890 in Montreal. Baptized on 14 September 1890. His baptismal sponsors were Arthur Burke and his aunt Bridget Horgan.^[7]
3. John Thomas [James], born 25 January 1892 in Montreal. He was baptized the same day. His baptismal sponsor was Patrick Lynch, a first cousin of Mary Horrigan.^[8]
4. Margaret, born 14 August 1893 in New York.^[9] Married Raymond Patrick O'Brien.
5. Thomas Francis, born 10 October 1895 in Solvay, Onondaga, New York.^[10]
6. Timothy E., born about October 1898 in New York.^[3]

Death and Burial

Died: On 13 August 1921 in Phoenix, Oswego, New York.^[11]

Burial: Saint Marys Cemetery in Baldwinsville, Onondaga, New York.^[11]
