About this One Place Study
My purpose in creating this One Place Study for Maserno, Italy is two-fold: 1-- To document the place where my grandparents were born -- Enrico Mancini and Augusta Bertusi and 2-- To research my grandparents' ancestors, and other people, who lived in Maserno in the 1800s.
Name
Maserno is translated to mean "pile of stones".
It is a frazione (village) of the commune (town) Montese in the province of Modena, region of Emilia-Romagna, located 1.78 kilometers from the center of Montese.

History
The town's patron saint is St. John the Baptist (San Giovanni Battista). The San Giovanni Battista church was dedicated in 1152. In recent years (2020) there are 450 members in the Parish.
