Surnames/tags: McCool McCoole DNA
Surprising results from two recent Big Y-700 tests have shown that we have a major gap in our understanding of McCool/McCoole paper trails in the 1600s and 1700s. This space will focus on determining how early McCool lines in the southeast US are (and are not) related.
We've known for a number of years that there are multiple unrelated McCool lines in the world, but it was believed that descendants in the early southeast US McCool lines were all related (on their paternal McCool line). We now know that there are at least two large, unrelated McCool lines that migrated through NC in the 1700s - often living just miles apart.
