1. Christopher John McNamee - was he an Australian convict? Born in Ireland in 1813 and passing away on 31st May 1888 in the District of Bundarra in New South Wales, Australia. Married Mary Dowling, probably in Ireland.

A number of researchers claim that he was an Australian convict, but nobody has shown any concrete evidence to support the claim.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I think this must be an old post because I read elsewhere the same comments and there were plenty of good responses. His wife was a convict and on her details Christopher is listed as her husband and a convict sentenced to life. Someone else had discovered a Chris McNamee had been treated by the surgeon on the convict ship James Pattison that left Dublin in 1829. I like some others before me have not found the marriage certificate in Ireland. Perhaps they didn't ever officially tie the knot, who knows.
