The McWhorter Plantation in Oglethorpe County, GA is believed to have been established in the mid to late 1700s and was active all the way into 1865 after the Civil War end, some of the enslaved stayed at the plantation as sharecroppers. Up until the war ended the plantation was under the control of Hamp McWhorter, or one of his children.
