Memo for ER Hickling esq.
Started work with Messrs. Bennett and Bristow, Accountants, Legal Managers and Agents for Fire & Life Insurance Co in Stawell. Stayed with them nearly five years.
Left them to go up country to Murtoa.
Was in the employ of Mr WIlliam Gust, General Storekeeper, for 2¼ years, as a bookkeeper, etc.
Came to Melbourne, & after a month's work with Messrs. Price Hogarth & Co, Wholesale Grocers of Elizabeth St.
Went back to Stawell as bookkeeper etc, for Mr David Telford, wholesale produce merchant and grocer.
Stayed with Mr Telford for 12 months then came to Melbourne and obtained situation with Mr George Wilkins Accountant and Legal Manager, of Baring Chambers, Market St, City.
His business not improving, I left his employ after nearly 2 years service to join Mt ER HIckling , Stock and Sharebroker, 349 Collins St, as clerk and have been with him up to date.
