We do not know that he died in GA. This is the suppersition of the Norma Tompkins researcher. Sidney Spence was his second wife as stated in my family Bible records. That source only states that he died in 1819 and since he was 87 years old, he probably died in NC and his second wife, left with four young children, went to GA with her family - either/or father or brother. I think that Ray is correct that JAcob had a number of children who were left in the Guilford/Surry/Yadkin Co. area of NC. Several of them may well have moved to Indiana or elsewhere. Since he was abt. 64 when he married Sidney, I think it is plausable that her had grown children - and possibly grandchildren- at that time. I also agree with Ray that until we have more definitive information, it is a great leap to assume that JAcob b. 1732 who married Sidney Spence was the son of Thomas.

These Jester's were a confusing bunch weren't they? Anne

https://mlarchives.rootsweb.com/listindexes/emails?listname=&thread=10600771 [Jester] Gen 3 02/11/2001 12:42:29 This is what Ray shows for generation 3:

3. Jacob Jester I B. 1732 Kent Co Delaware,(2) Thomas Jester B: 1685,(1) Richard Jester, B: 1632. Dies in 1819 in Georgia or Guilford Co, NC. :Wife 1, unknown mother of Jacob Jester II. :Jacob Jester II SR B. bef 1775 on 1835 taxables report for Surry County NC. As Jacob Sr. :Wife 2. Sidney Spence B. 1768, Married 1798 :Nathan Jester B 1798 :'Susannah M. Jester B. est 1805/09 D. est 1875 M. est 1839Ephraim Goad B. est 1805 D. 1875' : David Jester B 1803 : Andrew Jester B. 1805 :Noah Jester B: 1808 :Mary B: 1811

I see he is now showing Susannah who m. Ephraim Goad. Since I did not ever have the first son, Jacob II b. bef 1775, I have now entered this Jacob in my database. It seems reasonable from the land records, etc. that Jacob did, indeed, exist and could have been a brother to the above children. Therefore, I have no problem with the 3rd generation. Here is how my 3rd gen looks now with the addition of the firstborn, Jacob. My comments are in ( ):

1. Jacob Jester, son of Thomas Jester and Sarah Miskell, was born in Scotland? 19 May 1732. Jacob died 9 Feb 1819 in Morgan Co., GA. (Notice the Scotland birthplace and the exact data. I'm not sure where the exact date came from but I will the Scotland issue in a separate posting.)

He married Sidney Susannah Spence Guilford Co., NC, 17 Mar 1798. Sidda was born 17 Sep 1768. Sidda was the daughter of Nathan Spencer and Elizabeth Quindly. Sidda died 4 Jan 1837. Sidda was Jacob's 2nd wife. Who was his first?

He resided in Rowan Co., NC 1761. A census listed Jacob as head of household Guilford Co., NC, 1790. A census listed Jacob as head of household Guilford Co., NC, 1800. A census listed Jacob as head of household in Surry Co., NC, 1810. This Jacob was thought to be one of the three brothers: Jacob, William and Maxwell. I frankly do not think Maxwell ever existed. I'm putting this Jacob as the son of Thomas at the urging of all the NC researchers including Ray Parker.

Jacob Jester and his 1st unknown wife had the following child:

2 i. Jacob Jester was born bef 1775. Jacob died bef 1840. He married Rachel Stoneman. Rachel was born bef 1780. Rachel was the daughter of John Stoneman and Elizabeth [-?-] Stoneman. Rachel died 28 Apr 1848. Her body was interred Deep Creek Friends Cemetery.

Jacob Jester and Sidney Susannah Spence had the following children:

3 ii. Nathan Jester was born Guilford Co., NC 19 Nov 1798. Nathan died 28 Jun 1868. He married Tamzy Spencer in Morgan Co., GA, 13 Nov 1821. Tamzy was born in NC 27 Nov 1800. Tamzy was the daughter of David Spencer. Tamzy died 4 Aug 1863. A census listed Nathan as head of household in Jasper Co., GA, 1830. A census listed Nathan as head of household in Lee Co., GA, 1840. A census listed Nathan as head of household in Coosa Co., AL, 1850. A census listed Nathan as head of household in Coosa Co., AL, 1860.

4 iii. David Jester was born Guilford Co., NC 18 Sep 1803. He married Elizabeth Duke in Morgan Co., GA, 17 Jul 1821. (I looked through my database to see if I had another David that might match up with this one to no avail. This David should probably be researched to see what happened to him.)

5 iv. Andrew Jester was born Guilford Co., NC 14 May 1805. Andrew died after 1860 in Leon Co., TX. He married twice. He married Elizabeth [-?-] Jester. Elizabeth was born AR circa 1833. He married Anny [-?-] Jester c1823. Anny was born in GA circa 1808. Anny died after 1870 in Walker Co., GA.

6 v. Noah Jester12 was born 15 Mar 1808. (Another one to research further)

7 vi. Susannah W. Jester was born in GA circa 1809. Susannah died c1875. She married Ephraim Goad in Hamilton Co., TN, c1833. Ephraim was born in TN circa 1805. Ephraim died circa 1876 in Carroll Co., AR. 8 vii. Mary Jester was born 19 May 1811.

(You can see by the above comments, these children need to be researched further. We have Susannah's, Jacob's, Nathan's and Andrew's descendants but the others should be researched.

The reason Susannah Jester is questioned as being a daughter is that she was not listed in Sidney Spence's Bible Record of her children.

Cousin Anne Turner another Jacob Jester I descendant provided the Bible Record. I am descended from Jacob Jester II son of Jacob Jester I.

See below for Jacob Jester I's children after his 2nd marriage:

Wife 2. Sidney Spence b. 1768, Married 3/17/1798 (bond) Nathan Spence bondsman

Nathan Jester b. 11/19/1798 d. 6/28/1868 M. 11/13/1821 Tamzy Spence
Susannah M. Jester b. est 1809 d. est 1875 m. est 1833 Ephraim Goad b est

1805 d. 1876 (note Susannah is still in question as being a daughter?)

David Jester b. 9/18/1803 m 7/17/1821 Elizabeth Duke
Andrew Nathan Jester b. 5/14/1805 d. aft 1860
Noah Jester b. 3/15/1808
Mary Jester b. 5/19/1811

Jacob & Sidney Spence Bible records from Anne Turner

(Note by Jester-173 Anne Jester Turner did not add the Susannah part, because Susannah is not mentioned in the bible.)

Re: [JESTER] Jester and Goad lines EARNEST RAY & PARKER Ok,

Here is another suspected daughter of Jacob Jester I and his first wife, listed in Sidney Spence's Bible.

Sarah Jester b. 10/29/1786 D. 7/6/1839 M. a Lanier, married name, death date and age in Jacob & Sidney Spence Jester's Family Bible.

Cynthia have you considered the possibility that Susannah Jester was the daughter of one of Jacob Jester's sons by his first marriage who moved to Georgia with him and Sidney Spence?

Ray

Thank you for your help...it is very much appreciated.

Yes, I have been looking into the possibility that "my" Susanna Jester, wife of Eph. Goad, is from another Jester family member rather than Jacob, born 1732. I have contacted a cousin in Arkansas (Hamby, Goad, Jester, Bunch lines) and we have been going over our information, notes, research and early Carroll Co., AR records and correspondence.

Again, thanks for your help and information. Cynthia.
