The goal of this project is to collect and document people who are from the vast Middleton clan. Middletons go back to Scotland and England and came across the pond to North America in the 1600s. They were active in Revolutionary activities and in farming and developing the land of the British colonies. They were active up and down the eastern seaboard settling in many places.

Right now this project just has one member, me. I am Kathryn Wenzel.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.

  • By building this project we can see the spread of Middletons.
  • We can determine the earliest bearers of the name.
  • We can consider the connections between the many Middletons

Kathryn (Middleton) Wenzel
My grandfather, Middleton-1821, was the oldest Middleton I knew. He was Robert Meriwether Middleton, Sr. He had a son and grandson named after him. He worked as an agricultural agent in the Talbotan, Athens, Georgia area during the 1930s-1960s. He came from the family of Patrick Calhoun Middleton and a number of other Middletons who inhabited the area of Edgefield County, South Carolina, USA.

Greetings, Kathryn,

I'm a Middleton descendant, from Robert Middleton (Middleton- 406) through my grandmother, Rowena Middleton Williams (Middleton-617). This is the first time I've seen this project but I found the Middleton Name Study (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Middleton_Name_Study) two or three years ago and there was no coordinator for it, so I agreed to be the coordinator. It seems to me that we might coordinate our efforts and reach more members if you'd be interested. Please let me know your thoughts. Cheers, Donna
