Background
Originally known as Chisholm's and at some point as The Launch, the plantation was renamed "Middleton Plantation" after it was taken over by Oliver Hering Middleton in 1827. The earliest grants were made to John Whitmarsh Sr.: 2 grants of 300 acres in 1695 and 500 acres in 1700. The plantation lies across from Peter's Point and Pine Barren at geocoordinates 32°33'28.5"N 80°19'48.2"W. [1]
