The photographs are some examples of the mineral collection of Leigh Anne (Johnson) Dear, a 30+ year hobby which turned into a fairly serious albiet amateur pursuit.

As with most serious hobbyist I started out small and learned about the subject as the collection grew. If I could have known then what I know now I would have studied geology instead of accounting.

Once the internet 'went' public in the United States about 1995 the following not-for-profit website was created soon there-after and it continues to be supported by professional mineralogists across Europe, Australia and the United States. Since I wasn't schooled in this subject and learn on my own I am eternally grateful for their website: www.mindat.org
