Goals
This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about the surname Minish and its variants. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect. The current emphasis is on early Minish family members that came to Maryland and settled in Surry County, North Carolina in the 1700s and early 1800s.

The oldest Minish in the 1850 US Census was Elizabeth Menix, who was 105 years old (born in 1745)and living with David Hulet and Elizabeth Hulet (presumably her daughter) in Telfair County, Georgia. There is also a death certificate for an Abraham Minick, who died in Philadelphia, PA on Apr 13, 1821 and was born in 1745.

Minish (d. 1733) was born in Maryland. He married Elesabeth. They had five known sons. Their sons, James (1760-1836), Richard (1770-1843) and Isaac (1772-1849), settled in North Carolina, Kentucky and Georgia respectively.
