The goal of this project is to figure out who the common ancestor that links by DNA the MOORE's from Wilson, County Tennessee to Israel Coleman Moore in Missouri was. Y-DNA tests were taken at FamilyTree DNA and matches were made on both sides, the surnames are the same, but exactly how these two families link up is not clear. I believe I'm just one or two generations away from the link.

This project will focus on the Moore's in Missouri, since there is currently no WikiTree project for them. If and when the common ancestor is found, the then this project will be merged between the families.

My MOORE's emigrated to Wilson County Tennessee right around 1800 from South Carolina. Most records show the common ancestor will be in South Carolina. I do have some census records which mention North Carolina, but looking at a map it seems to enter Tennessee from North Carolina one usually passed through North Carolina. I'm pretty certain they did not reside permanently in North Carolina if they were there.

Right now this project just has one member, me. I am Kevin Moore.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.

1) I'm entering in some basic information from other sources on what I know about the Missouri Moore's as a starting point. If you have more info on these Moore's from Missouri, please feel free to edit and add to it.

Start with Israel Coleman Moore, b. 1815 in Tennessee, emigrated to Missouri through Carroll and Gibson Counties TN sometime in the 1830's:

Here is my most distant Moore from the Tennessee branch, Israel Moore Sr. b. South Carolina before 1775:

Again, these two branches are confirmed related through an unusually rare Y-DNA marker.
