Montgomery County
History
Named after Virginia Governor Brigadier-General Richard Montgomery and formed on October 7, 1776 from Fincastle and Botetourt counties.
Portions of the county were subsequently broken out into Greenbrier County, Giles County, Wythe County, and Pulaski County.
