Morgan County History

On December 19, 1917, an explosion at the Barbour No. 6 mine in Catoosa took 11 lives. Barbour No. 6 Mine Disaster.

Geography

Morgan County is part of EastTennessee, one of Tennesee's Three Grand Divisions. These divisions are not only geographic, but also cultural and defined in state law. Morgan County is also part of the Central Region of Appalachia.
