Last Will and Testament

In the name of God Amen, this fourteenth day of May anno yr Domini 1731: I Moses Morrill of Salisbury in the County of Essex yeoman being sick and weake of body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be given to god Therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my Last Will & Testament that is to say principally & first of all I give and recommend my soul to god that gave it and my Body to the Earth to be decently buried in a decent and Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named nothing doubting but at the resurrection I shall receive the same by the almighty power of god through Christ my Redeemer and as touching my worldly estate which it hath pleased god to Bless me with I give demise and dispose of the same in the manor and forme following: viz:

Impremis: as to my wife Mary I having made a covenant with her before marriage for her right of dower; and she having without provocation absconded herself from me and carried away my money and goods contrary to my order and without my leave and knowing that she has had more of my estate than she ought to have according to agreement before marriage and not proving a wife to me I give her nothing more:

2dly: I give to my son in law Thomas Menkens two acres of land out of my great swamp lottments adjoyning to my four acre & half which I have before given to my daughter Rachel his wife by deed in consideration of eight pounds money which I had of him:

3dly: I give & bequeath unto my daughter Rachel one half of the land which I bought of Joshua Brown which I have not sold

4ly: I give & bequeath to my daughter Hannah the other halfe of my land which I bought of Joshua Brown as aforesaid that I had not sold before

5ly as to my daughter Ann. She having had her full portion out of my real estate already I give her no more real estate:

6ly as to my daughter Sarah she also having had out of my real estate her full portion I give her no more real estate

7ly as to my daughter Judah I give and bequeath to her the House I now live in and all my provision and meadow at the Beach Bush after my wifes decease and one cow

8thly my will is that all my land in Kingstown shall be equally divided between my two grandsons Moses Morrill and [Benjamin?] Quimby

9thly I give unto my granddaughter Rebeca Morrill a cow

10thly my will is all my moveable estate except what I shall hereafter give to my Executor I give to my five daughters to be equally divided between them

Finally, I give & bequeath unto my son William Morrill besides what he has already had all my Swamp Lott that I have not already disposed of and my yoke of oxen and one cow with all the rest of my Estate both moveable & immoveable real and personal with my instruments of husbandry he paying all my just debts and funeral charges whom I appoint my sole executor to this my last will & testament [making?] this to be my last will and testment revoking and disavowing any other wills. In wittness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
