Biography
In 1811 William Gatewood and Jane his wife purchased property from Benjamin Vance. The first tract contained 191 acres on the Little Back Creek. The second tract contains 47 acres on the Little Back Creek.[1]
In 1839 Jane Gatewood transfers the Benjamin Vance property to her son Samuel V. Gatewood. The property consists of 3 tracts of land, 193 acres, 47 acres, and 150 acres.[2] It is described as the Mountain Grove Homestead[3]
