Late 50's early 60's lived with mom's sister and her family. With 4 kids in the house , one got child hood sickness, we all came down with it.

1960's This was the decade I had OPEN HEART surgery. mother married stepdad David, moved into better lifestyle and want for nothing. Spent a lot of time up at Lake Havasu , riding honda 90 dirt bikes, waterskiing, Got into music, playing both piano, and clarinet. Private lessons for piano, clarinet was at school. Living in Yorba Linda, California went to Rose Drive Elementary, for 3rd to 6th grades. Two teachers that stand out in my mind were Mrs. Thomas, (5th grade). She gave me the love of reading. She would always read a chapter or two from the Little House Books after lunch. And there was Mrs. Carroll (6th grade). Her class was so much fun. Then Yorba Linda JUNIOR (not middle} HIGH for 7th and 8th grades, only two grades....6th graders were brought up to the Junior high level after I went on to High School. This was the first experience of having all different classes with different teachers. Learned to TYPE on a manual (non electric) type writers where you took your hand off the keys to RETURN the carriage. Took SHOP where the girls in 8th grade made small wood cutting boards and plastic shaped key chains. The 8th grade boys were in HOME EC. This was only for one quarter session. I really enjoyed it and to this day I have a healthy respect for power tools. Got the 8th grade PERFECT ATTENDENCE Award and that was amazing due to family was in a horrible automobile accident on our way up to Havasu one weekend that year. My 8th grade photo (which was taken the following Monday) shows my discoloration on my face.

1970's FRESHMAN year at TROY High in Fullerton, was in Marching Band. You could always see where I was due to the long knee lenght hair I had. Which after the football season, had to cut it all off for swimming. The long cut off hair was later made into a wiglet for me. Troy was my freshman year. First date was SADIE HAWKINS dance, which I asked the boy. Had fun. The summer between Freshman and Sophmore year was a total turn around, down sizing, upheaval .....where we moved to Whittier, Calif. SOPHMORE year at WHITTIER high, the oldest shchool around. President Nixon and my step dad went. During the '71-'72 earthquake, there was no damage reported. The school had three floor levels, only two were seen. Underground, Ground level, and Upstairs. Don't remember much of this school other than NOT WANTING TO BE THERE ....so I ReBelled, ran away and moved to my dad's in Yuma, Ariz. Sorry to say was not the smartest thing. end of Sophmore to frist half of Juinor Year was at KOFA High in Yuma Ariz. second half of JUNIOR year was back in Whittier at MONTE VISTA High. This was also the school I spent SENIOR year at. Both years were DRAMA class . Senior year was the year I got to be a TA (teacher's aide) for 11th grade Calif History, Also had surgery on my eardrums twice.

Mid 70's due to moving to Ariz and back, didn't graduated from High School on time as should. Took a NURSE'S AIDE class at local Adult school.....killing two birds with one stone so to speak. Moved out on my own into small travel trailor in Pico Rivera, Calif. Had two close people in my life die within the first year of my adulthood. Roy Thomas, a boy I had know since the HEART surgery. Mom and I had been keeping in touch with his family all those years. It really hit me hard.....within the following year I lost my own mother Pat

2019 FAST FORWARD TO MY 60'S...have had 3 kids ...grandmom to 7...actually got to take a trip to Germany for Christmas!!!
