In the Name of God Amen. I Nancy G. Blue of Union County Kentucky being of sound mind and disposing memory and Knowing the uncertainty of Life and the certainty of death. Do make and publish the my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills and codicils by me made and published.
I will my soul to god who gave it & my body to the Earth from whence it came. (Second) I desire that my body be decently buried at Antioch by the side of the remains of my beloved husband John Blue.
(Third) I will that my funeral expenses be first paid after which I desire that all my just debts be paid.
(Fourth) I will that all moneys due me by Note or otherwise at the time of my decease be collected by my Executors herein after appointed (Fifth) I will and bequeath to my beloved grand daughter Anna H. Finley One thousand dollars to be placed at interest by my Executors hereinafter appointed. And I direct my said Exectors to pay over the same together with the accumulated interest thereon to my said Grandaughter upon her Marriage. but if she does not marry before arriving at the age of twenty on years then I direct my said Executors to pay to her the anual interest of the thousand dollars & its increase till she shall marry and in no other event do I direct said Executors to pay the principal & interest accumulated prior to her becoming of age except as above directed or as shall be herein after directed. (Sixth) I will and desire that my beloved granddaughter Anna H. Finly on arriving at age if she should then be single and desire so to do be permitted to invest the thousand dollars together with the interest accumulated thereon in real Estate and I desire my said Executors to aid and assist her in said investment and see that the same is judicially made.
(Seventh) I will to my beloved Grand children Anna H Finley Catherine H Finley John Randolph Finley Sophie Finley Eugene Clarence Finley and Emma B. Finley all the remainder of my estate personal or otherwise after deducting the thousand dollars herein before given to Anna H Finley to be equally divided among them share and share alike.
Eighth) I direct my Executors hereinafter named to put out at interest the amount that may be due my said Grand children under the preceding clause of this will till they become of age or Marry and upon the happening of either event. I direct my said Executors to pay them the amount that will be due them under the provisions of this will but if at any time prior to the arriving of age or Marriage of either or all of my said grand children it shall become necessary to use the interest on the amount due either of them for the better support and education of him or her then I direct my executors to use the same as may be necessary under the circumstances.
(Nineth) I will and direct that if either of my above named Grand children shall die before arriving at age or marrying their portion of my estate shall be equally divided among the others to be paid them in the same manner as is prescribed for the payment of the amount herein before given them.
(Tenth) Having full confidence in the integrity and capacity of George R. Knott and John W. Blue I hereby appoint them my Executors to carry into effect this my last will and testament investing them with full power to do all things that may be necessary for the full and complete execution of the several provisions of this my said will. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this the twenty sixth day of March 1858. Nancy G. Blue. Acknowledged by Testatrix & published in the presence of us. Whereas at the time of making the foregoing will a considerable portion of my estate consisted of slaves who have been freed by the recent war and having expected the legacy of one thousand dollars to my grand daughter Anna H. Finley to be issued from my slaves aforesaid and my said grand-daughter Anna H. Finley having recently married and the reasons no longer existing in my mind for the distinctions made in her favor in the foregoing clauses of my will now by way of codicil to my foregoing will I do hereby revoke and set aside so much of the provisions thereof as set apart to my said grand-daughter Anna H Finley the sum of one Thousand and the provisions in reference to the investment of the same and the payment of the interest thereof to her and direct that my whole estate real and personal shall be equally divided between my five grand children Anna H Finley, Catherine H. Finley, John Randolph Finley, Sophia Finley and Eugene Clarence Finley my grand daughter Emma B. Finley having died since making my will and being satisfied with the other provisions of my said will which are not in conflict with this codicil I hereby reaffirm the same with the exceptions that I hereby appoint James B. Blue in place of George R. Knott as one of my executors. Nancy G. Blue. Signed and acknowledged by Nancy G.
