This page will serve as a central location for all information related to our monthly New Member Q and A sessions held on Zoom.
We're using the term "new member" broadly here. These sessions are for anyone who has questions about how to better navigate WikiTree as they grow their branches. Betsy Ko is the host, joined by co-hosts Steven Greenwood, Murray Maloney and Hilary Gadsby (Sundays). We can't promise to have the answer to every possible question but, if we don't know, we'll research it and get back to you.
We're looking for two to three folks each session who are willing to look at their profiles in progress with us and talk about any challenges they're encountering. There's nothing like learning in real time and getting to ask your specific questions. Even if you don't have questions, we might find a few suggestions for ways to take your profile to the next level. Hopefully everyone can take away some helpful ideas from these conversations. Participants can also ask questions ahead of time by adding a comment to this page, replying to the G2G post (be sure to add New_Members to your followed tags) or by adding a comment to the Facebook post in the WikiTree Members Group. We'll also save time at the end of the session for spontaneous questions.
The sessions are always recorded and posted to WikiTree's YouTube channel so that you can watch later at a convenient time.
The usual monthly schedule will be to hold the first session on the second Thursday of each month at 8 pm EST/1 am UTC and the second session on the fourth Sunday of the month at 11 am EST/4 pm UTC. These two sessions will be the same, so just attend the one most convenient for you. The videos will be available on WikiTree's YouTube channel within a few days.

Betsy's Cheat Sheet
In the April 6th meeting, we talked about how I have a cheat sheet that helps me to remember how to use WikiTree mark-up/code and how to format my source citations properly. One of my mentors on the Tartan Trail used to talk about "all the bits and bobs" needing to be right. Wikicode is fussy that way. If you leave out just one backward slash character or use quotation marks instead of two single apostrophes, things won't work. So, go slow and be patient. The more you use this formatting, the more natural it will start to feel.
