The New Zealand Wars (1843-1872)
The first "New Zealand War" or "Māori war" was in 1845-46 at Kororareka (Bay of Islands) and was between Hōne Heke in the far north and the Government.
"The last shot was fired at Waikaremoana in 1870."
Key Historical References
The New Zealand Wars were a series of skirmishes and battles between some Māori tribes and government forces (which included British and Colonial troops and their Māori allies, known as Kūpapa).
