  • 1497 GEORGE Nesbyt in MUNGOIS WALLIS served on a jury of inquest. [1]
  • 1499 There was then a blood feud between the Chirnsides, that at the time were of East Nisbet, Blackadders, and Nesbit in Mongois Wall also known as Nisbet of West Nisbet. They had attacked Philip Nesbit of Wester Nesbit and John his brother, Patrick Nesbit in Mongois Wall etc. and plundered their goods. They were also charged for the cruel slaughter of umqle the said John Nesbit , and Philip Nesbit in Mongois Wall, In 1499 Andrew Blackader of that Ilk and Ninian Nisbet of East Nisbet were granted remission and of the escheat of all goods movable and unmoveable lands for this felony. (Remission is the lessening of a penalty without forgiveness for the crime; the beneficiary is still considered guilty of the offense Remission from the crown remained conditional on satisfying the just demands of the kin of the deceased for compensation) [2]

  • 1568 George (Nisbet of West Nisbet) was living at Mongoiswellis when he had a quarrel with David Home of Wedderburn (slayer of La Bastie) who with 30 men beseiged George in his house at Mongoiswellis [5]

  • 1600 George (Nisbet) Nisbet of that Ilk (abt.1525-1600), who later died on the 14 November 1600, made his will at Mongoiswalls on the 12 March in presence of the witnesses within the parish of Edrom and Sheriffdom of Berwick, given up by Elizabeth Cranstoun his relict and only executor [6]
