Welcome Email #1
Hi (Name Here),
We’re so glad to welcome you to the Nordic Project’s Nordic Trail and hope that you will both enjoy and learn from this experience.
Keep this email somewhere safe for future reference and make sure to bookmark the links attached. You’ll need them throughout this learning experience.
This is a link to the page you’ll be working with most during this first level of the Trail. It will help you understand the process of editing profiles. Nordic Trail - Part 1
Here are the links to the help pages that you’ll need for this phase:
- Using Sources for Genealogy Research: This page outlines why sources are important when researching your ancestors. All profiles should reach, meet or exceed WikiTree’s standards for sourcing.
- Sources Help Page: This page outlines why sources are a required part of the WikiTree experience and shows you two ways to add sources to your ancestors profiles.
- Examples of what is considered uncertain information. This page outlines what sources are considered derivative and are not used for profiles that are part of the Nordic Project. They can, however, be helpful in finding true sources.
- Research Notes Help Page: This page outlines why a Research Notes section can be helpful, where to properly place the research notes section, and introduces Research Note Boxes (we'll look at these more closely, later).
- Biographies Help Page: This page outlines the required and optional headings for the biography portion of a profile.
Three profiles will be assigned to you by your guide, and you will be notified of which profile to work on when your guide contacts you. You will have 1 month to complete each profile. You are expected to check in with your guide on a weekly basis and any extension to the timeframe must be discussed with your guide at that time.
Please respond within 1 week from the date of this email to let me know you are still interested, in order to hold your place on the Nordic Trail.
May I remind you to add the Nordic Tag on your profile if you have not already done so. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Tags
Sincerely,
(Your Name)

Welcome Email #1A - New Project Members - non response
Hi (Name Here),
I sent you an email last week, confirming your placement in the Nordic Trail program. At that time you were asked to respond within the week. I have not received a response. Please confirm that you wish to continue on the Nordic Trail within the next 3 days in order to keep your spot in the program.
The number of available guides is limited, so we need to take this step to ensure that all Explorers have the opportunity to join. If I do not hear from you by that date, your spot will be given to another explorer and you will need to begin again if you decide to join at a later time.
Sincerely,
(Your Name)
