About Soccer
Association Football (or 'soccer' if you live in Australia) is the world's most popular sport. It involves using your foot to move a round ball around a rectangular pitch, to kick it into a goal.
Football has been played around the world in different formats for centuries. The modern sport derives from Britain, where people (such as King Henry VIIIhave played it since at least the 16th century. The oldest football team around the world is Sheffield F.C. which was founded in 1856, and today football is the world’s most popular spectator sport.
