Preface
On September 20, 1843, Elizabeth Irwin (abt.1809-1852), presumed to be the eldest child of William and Margaret Irwin, filed a petition for the partition of William's half of the Irwin Estate following his death on an unknown date.[1] Following is a transcription of the notice of the filing published in the Tri Weekly Cincinnati Gazette on September 21, 1843.

COURT OF COMMON PLEAS.
STATE OF OHIO,
HAMILTON COUNTY, ss.
Petition for Partition.
Elizabeth Irwin
Vs.
John Irwin, Andrew Irwin, Martha Irwin, Nancy Irwin, Mary Irwin, Catharine Irwin, heirs at law of William Irwin and Eliza Jane Irwin, widow of James Irwin.
NOTICE is hereby given to said defendants in the above case; and to all other persons interested, that said plaintiff did, on the 20th day of September, A. D., 1843, file her petition in said Court, for the partition of the following Real Estate, to wit:--”All the east half of the South East quarter of section Eight (8) of Township Two, in the second Fractional Range, lying between the Miami River, situate in Green Township, Hamilton Co., Ohio, near Cheviot, with the privileges and appurtenances; and that said petition will be acted on at the next November Term of said Court.
