Sources and Terminology

The sources used to compile the lists and some Nun-related Terminology. See also foreward on each Locality page. Link opens new page.

Note: The nun's name to be recorded in the Nickname section. By doing this her name will display correctly. Not doing this will make it difficult to read their religious name. e.g Born Ethel Brown and taking the name Sister Mary Elonsyious, would read Sister Ethel Brown when putting Sister in the prefix.

This is brilliant. So many of the names are potential members of my family. Also my mum had her funeral there. During a flood as a school child I recall having to care for the 4th class for a few days at the school, as all adults were involved with flood work.(I had forgotten about that) Thank you and I will try to do justice to the nuns involved.
I find this page excessively long. Could you break it up into more freespaces by location. Eg a free space for NSW for the contents of 5.2 etc and link to that Freespace in the text? This page would finish at 5.1, followed by Needs further work and revision tracker. Then each Freespace Page for location could have the category for that location eg [New South Wales, Religious Institutions] which would link up to [Australia, Religious Institutions].

Some of these will also need further Freespaces for each Order eg NSW, Convent of Mercy has enough information to warrant its own Freespace Page. It just makes for easier readability.
